Students light up December at Christmas Fair
The students of St Dunstan’s School hosted a wonderful Christmas Fair for parents, families and members of the local community. Students in every tutor group organised a stall. They provided goods ranging from delicious chocolate fountain fruit sticks to mistletoe and jewellery, and competitions such as Lucky Dips, Splat the Rat and Guitar Hero. Visitors soon got into the Christmas spirit and left with that warm glow you only see on faces in December.
To students’ delight, and for the first time in a number of years, there was even a 'Soak the Teacher' stall as one teacher was persuaded by his tutor group to get wet sponged. Naturally the students didn’t disappoint and they performed with great accuracy, just as they have done in their recent end of term exams!
Headteacher Mrs Stevenson said “It was a lovely atmosphere. Team work was evident as the students and staff worked hard to prepare their stalls. I would like to thank everyone who supported this event. We were delighted to raise over £700 which will go towards student -nominated projects at the school and in the local community. In the past money raised at our fair has contributed to the cost of the School Mini-bus and ICT equipment. Students have also supported our Charity events well. This term we have raised £650 for Children in Need through Mufti Days and Cake Stalls'.
As we move into the month of festivities, the school looks forward to a host of Christmas themed events including a student shopping trip to the markets in Lille, the annual carol service at St John’s on Tuesday 13th December, and a performance by the school choir for the local residents of Wilcox Close.
